An Inkling Of Style In Splatoon 2

The first Splatoon inked its way into our hearts two years ago with its beautiful colors and visuals, intense gameplay, and fun, unforgettable characters. But, another major takeaway from the game was the fun outfits and styles that each “kid” wore. The clothing helped with stats and generally just gave you your own style. All the while, this is in a game where people aren’t looking at you for longer than a second.

So, cut to this week. Splatoon 2 may be coming out on July 21st, two days from now, but there was an early test run. Consequently, earlier in the week, I found myself downloading Splatoon 2’s Splatfest World Premiere. It was time to take an early test run of the game for a few hours. Finally, just like the first game, the main courtyard area of the game had players’ characters hanging out all over. Due to people with early copies of the game and reviewers, the aftermath of the Splatfest gave us our first looks at the styles and clothing of Splatoon 2.

Like the previous game, we managed get some clear shots of the shops during the Splatfest that will be open for people to buy clothing, even though we couldn’t purchase any during the Splatfest itself as it requires your character to be Level 4 to purchase.

In addition to our fashion journey, we can take a look at the new shops and their patrons. Everyone is new here except for Sheldon.

Annie’s Cooler Heads is replaced by the calm and cool Flow at Headspace Headgear.

Shrimp Kicks from the first game got the boot in favor of Bisk and the Shella Fresh Shoe store.

Jelfonzo at the Ye Olde Cloth Shoppe has taken over clothing duties from Jelonzo between games.

Rounding out the crew of shopkeepers, Sheldon is back with Ammo Knights weapon shop. At level 1, you can’t see the products though.

Take a look at more shots!

As a result of players getting the game early, we get to take a closer look at some of the awesome fashion models that our wonderful naming consultants have dubbed “Other People Playing Splatoon 2”.
